Introduction

Sana AI is an innovative AI-powered learning platform designed to streamline knowledge sharing and enhance learning experiences within organizations. One of its standout features is the chat functionality, which allows users to interact with the AI assistant to access information, automate workflows, and improve productivity. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to effectively use the chat feature in Sana AI.

Getting started

1. Accessing the Chat feature

To start using the chat feature, log in to your Sana AI account. Once logged in, you will find the chat interface on the main dashboard. If you are new to Sana AI, you can sign up at Sana AI.

2. Initiating a Chat

You can click on "New Chat" on the left panel or type in the chat field at the bottom of the home page to start a conversation.

Using the Chat feature

3. Asking questions

You can ask Sana AI a variety of questions related to your organization’s knowledge base. For example:

  • "What are the installation requirements for the new software update?"

  • "Can you provide the latest sales report?"

Sana AI will search through the available resources and provide you with the most relevant information.

4. Accessing documents

You can access files from your uploaded files, files from collections, and files available through integration. There are several ways to interact with files:

  • Go to a specific file and click on it; a new chat will start with the file already being tagged.

  • Start a new chat and tag a file by typing @filename (replace filename with the actual name of the file)

5. Uploading files directly to chat

You can upload files directly to the chat either by clicking on the "Upload Files" button or by dragging and dropping them into the chat. These files will be available only in this specific chat, in contrast to uploading files to the "Files" section or a collection.

6. Tagging collections

If you have specific collections of documents or data, you can tag them in your queries to get more precise results.

Tagging Integrations
You can't tag integrations directly in the chat, but you can add them to a collection and then tag the collection. This allows you to organize and access integrated resources effectively within your queries.

7. Copy-pasting and tagging a URL directly

You can directly copy-paste a URL into the chat and tag it to include the content from that URL in your query (no need to write "@" before the URL). This is particularly useful for referencing specific web pages or online documents. For example, you can paste a URL and type URL to tag it.

8. Starting a Chat from search results

You can start a chat with a specific source directly from the search results. Find the source you are interested in and click "Ask" next to it to initiate a chat with that source already tagged.

Tips for effective use

Using the chat-feature should be viewed as a chat with an assistant, compared to for example searching in a search bar. This means that it is best to view it as a conversation with a new colleague, where you get better responses the more clarity you provide.

Be Specific

The more specific your query, the better the results. Instead of asking, "Show me the report," specify which report you need, such as "Show me the Q1 financial report."

Use Keywords

Incorporate relevant keywords in your queries to help Sana AI understand and fetch the correct information. For example, use "installation requirements" instead of just "requirements."

Know Your Documents

Familiarize yourself with how information is structured and written in your documents. Tailor your questions to match the language and terminology used in your organization's documentation for more accurate results.

Tag Documents

When you want Sana AI to use specific documents, make sure to tag them in your queries. This helps the AI focus on the most relevant sources of information.

Open New Chats for New Questions

For clarity and better organization, start a new chat when you have a new question. This keeps your interactions with Sana AI focused and prevents confusion.

Provide Feedback

If Sana AI doesn’t provide the correct information directly, refine your query or ask again, and continue the conversation with the assistant.
