Introduction

Chat is where you ask Sana questions and get instant, sourced answers. Whether you're asking about project status, requesting a summary of a document, or brainstorming with your team, Chat pulls information from all your connected knowledge sources and gives you answers you can trust.

How to use the feature

Start a chat

  1. Tap the Chat tab (bottom of your screen)

  2. Tap New Chat (top right) or start typing in the input field

  3. Type your question: "What's the status of Project X?" or "Summarize the design doc from last week"

  4. Sana responds in real-time with sourced answers

Each response includes citations—tap them to see the original document and verify where the information came from.

Follow-up questions

Stay in the same chat to maintain context. Ask follow-ups like "Can you expand on that?" or "Who's the lead on this?" Sana remembers the conversation history, so you don't need to repeat yourself.

Start a new chat

When you're ready to switch topics, start a new chat so Sana understands you're asking about something different. This keeps your chat history organized and makes it easier to search past conversations later.

Access your chat history

All your chats are saved automatically. Swipe from the left edge to open chat history, or look for the chat list icon. You can:

  • Search past conversations

  • Pin your favorite chats for quick access

  • Delete chats you no longer need

Choose your AI model

Want to try a different model? Tap the menu in a chat and select Model to switch between available options. Different models may give you different perspectives or writing styles.

When to use the feature

Chat is perfect for:

  • Getting quick answers without leaving the app

  • Asking follow-up questions in real-time

  • Learning more about documents and files (ask Sana about a search result)

  • Brainstorming ideas with back-and-forth conversation

  • Finding context about your work when you're not at your desk

  • Collaborative problem-solving with sourced information

FAQ

Q. Can I search my chat history?

Q. How long is my chat history kept?
A. Your chats are saved indefinitely within your workspace. You can delete individual chats or search old conversations anytime.

Q. Can I share a chat with my team?
A. Yes. Tap the menu on any chat message to copy or share the conversation. You can also reference chats when asking questions in a new conversation.
