Introduction
The Search tab lets you find answers across all your work in one place. Search documents, emails, files, and meeting transcripts at once, then ask Sana follow-up questions right from the results.
How to use the feature
Search your knowledge base
Open the Search tab
Type your query: "Q3 budget proposal," "how to reset password," "client feedback"
Results show relevant documents, files, and content
Tap any result to preview or start a chat about it
Refine your results
Narrow your search with filters:
Source — Google Drive, Confluence, Slack, Email, etc.
Date range — Find recent documents or historical records
Content type — Documents, emails, files, etc. (depends on your workspace)
Browse recent items
When you open Search with an empty query, you see Recently Accessed items. This is a quick way to get back to work you've done recently without typing.
Ask about a specific file
Find a document you want to learn more about?
Tap the search result
Tap Ask about this or start a chat from the preview
Ask: "What are the main action items?" or "Summarize this proposal"
Sana answers with citations back to that specific file
When to use the feature
Search is perfect for:
Finding information across your organization's knowledge sources
Looking up past decisions or discussions
Discovering documents related to what you're working on
Learning more about a specific file in a chat
Narrowing results using filters and keywords
Keeping your recent work easily accessible
Tips for best search experience
Be specific: "Sales forecast 2025" returns better results than "numbers"
Use quotes for exact phrases: "market analysis" (with quotes) finds exact matches
Start broad, then filter: Search for "budget," then filter by date or source to narrow down
Search across recent chats: Your chat history is also searchable
Troubleshooting
No search results
Verify your integrations are connected: Profile → Integrations
Try different keywords
Remove filters (date, source) to broaden results
Confirm you have access to the content you're searching for
Search results seem outdated
Clear cache: Profile → Cache Management → Clear All Cached Data
Pull down to refresh the Search tab
Wait for integration re-sync (can take a few minutes)

Q. Why am I getting no results?
A. Verify your integrations are connected: Profile → Integrations. Try different keywords, remove filters to broaden results, and confirm you have access to the content you're searching for.
Q. Why are my results outdated?
A. Clear cache: Profile → Cache Management → Clear All Cached Data. Pull down to refresh the Search tab. Wait for integration re-sync, which can take a few minutes.
Q. Can I control which sources Sana searches?
A. Yes. Use the Select Sources filter in the Search tab or tag specific sources in chat to narrow results.
Q. Does the app search my email?
A. Yes, if you've connected your email integration in Profile → Integrations. Otherwise, only documents in Google Drive, OneDrive, Confluence, Notion, and other file sources will be searchable.
